Year 8 Maths Project – Designing Mini Golf Courses
Year 8 students showcased their creativity and measurement skills in their latest Maths project, by designing mini golf courses.
Using four-sided shapes and circles, they crafted imaginative holes and calculated their perimeters and areas.
This hands-on project not only honed their math abilities but also made learning fun and interactive!

I found the mini golf course project to be a fun and creative way to showcase our understanding of area and perimeter. It was a great move beyond traditional tests and had the opportunity to challenge our problem-solving skills. We were able to demonstrate our grasp of the formulas and present our work in a unique and personalized way. Overall, this assessment was fantastic, and I love how it pushed our skills in area and perimeter.

The Maths Games Show
On Wednesday 21 August, our Year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Maths Game Show presented by Felstead Education.
The event was a dynamic blend of education and entertainment, featuring captivating math magic tricks, engaging puzzles, and interactive games that brought mathematical concepts to life.
Students were not only challenged to solve intriguing problems but also journeyed through the fascinating history of mathematics, gaining a deeper appreciation for the subject.
It was an enriching experience that combined learning with fun, leaving our students and teachers inspired and enthusiastic about the wonders of mathematics.
Maths in 2025
2025 is fast approaching and those students who are enrolling in Year 10-12 General, Methods and/or Specialist Maths will require the Texas TI-Nspire CX II CAS Colour Calculator.
Students completing Year 7-9 Maths, Year 10-12 Foundation Maths and VM Numeracy will require a scientific calculator.
Calculators can be purchased later in the year through the booklist or if you would like to get in early, please see attached instructions for ordering.
