Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Dear Families,

Welcome to Week 7 of Term 3!

Our new playground is open!!! Our students (and parents and staff!!) have shown enormous patience as we waited for our playground to be safe to play on. The day came this week! It has been wonderful to watch students explore the new challenges the playground provides.

The new shade sail should not be too far away either- just in time for the warmer weather that is coming.

Parent surveys

St Peter's school will be participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Next week, we will be emailing some families a link to complete the survey. Families have been chosen at random and not all families will receive a request to complete the survey. If you do not receive a link, but would like to complete the survey, please contact me and I can organise a link to be shared with you.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

The survey will be available online and can be accessed from Monday 2 September and needs to be completed by Friday 20 September 2024. This survey may only be completed once.

We thank you in advance for your participation in this process.

Book Week Celebrations

You could have been mistaken for thinking you had stepped in to the halls of Hogwarts last week as we kicked off Book Week with our annual parade of amazing costumes. With a theme of 'Reading is Magic' staff and students were inspired by the Harry Potter series of books. We had an amazing week celebrating reading and books. Please also read our 'Book Week' page for information regarding the book swap.

Maths at St Peter's

Congratulations to those students who participated in the Melbourne University Maths chllange (see Maths News). I was privileged to be invited to the presnetations these students made and was so impressed with their ability to not only calculate and problem solve, but then communicate the process and their findings to their peers.

Congratulations also to all students in Years 3-6 for their participation in the Maths Olympiad.

Berry St

I encourage you to read our Learning Diversity and Wellbeing page to read about the work we have started with Berry St. This is a great opportunity for our school, to continue to build consistent practice around meeting the needs of our students.

I hope that everyone has a great week.
