Wear It Purple Day (Friday, August 25th)
Carlton North Primary School is committed to being safe, inclusive and welcoming for all people in our wonderful community. It's important to work with students to acknowledge, explore and celebrate diverse identities. We aim to foster a safe, respectful and inclusive community by acknowledging and/or celebrating a variety of cultural events that happen throughout the year, as well as by teaching the mandated Respectful Relationships (RR) curriculum.
Wear It Purple Day is happening on Friday 25 August 2023. Wear It Purple Day is a celebration of diversity and inclusion for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer or Questioning, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) young people. What started as a small movement has grown. However, the message remains the same: Everybody has the right to be proud of who they are. This year’s theme is ‘Write Your Story’, emphasising the importance of personal expression and individuality for rainbow young people. You can find more information and resources here
Some themed baked goods (including gluten-free) and Minus18 wristbands will be available to buy for a gold coin donation at lunchtime and after school (if not already sold out) to raise money for Minus18, champions for LGBTQIA+ youth. See the Noticeboard page above for morw info on baking purple cupcakes!
We are also inviting anyone who would like to support the initiative to wear something purple on the day!
