Athletics Report - Woodlands and Whittlesea Division Championships

We're excited to share some fantastic news from the recent Woodlands and Whittlesea Division Athletics Championships held at the Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium. Despite the cold and blustery weather, our 25 incredible students put on an outstanding display of athleticism, showcasing their running, jumping, and throwing skills.

Our students competed fiercely against some tough competition, and we couldn't be prouder of their efforts. Their determination and sportsmanship were truly commendable.

We're thrilled to announce that 8 of our exceptional athletes have secured their spots at the Northern Metropolitan Athletics Championships. This is a testament to their hard work and dedication.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Miss Romeo and our wonderful parent helpers, Anthony and Reviegay Cardamone, and Kiralee Clow, for their unwavering support throughout the championships.

To all our students heading to the next level of competition, we wish you the very best! Our Lady's Primary School is behind you all the way.

Keep up the fantastic work, and let's continue to excel in athletics!

Sincerely,

Anthony Whitty

Year 5 Reptile Encounter Incursion

On Monday, our Year 5 classes had an incredible and unforgettable experience when we had a reptile incursion at our school. It wasn't just about reptiles; it also included some fascinating insects and a very special Australian mammal. Some of us were excited, some were a little freaked out, but we all agreed that it was an amazing and educational adventure.

The incursion started with a visit from a reptile expert, Albert. He brought along an assortment of animals that left us in awe. There was a snake, a lizard, a crocodile, a turtle, frogs, stick insects and a Bettong.  Some of us were a bit nervous at first, but Albert was great at making us feel safe. He explained how these animals adapt to their environment. The highlight of the reptile part was when we got to touch a Crocodile named ‘Snappy’.. It felt scaly but strangely smooth!

A Surprise Guest - The Bettong:

Just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, Albert had a surprise for us. He introduced us to a functionally-extinct Australian mammal called the Bettong. It was incredibly special because there are very few Bettong’s left in Australia.

Craigieburn Library Class Visits

Students in Prep and Year 1 will be visiting the Hume Craigieburn Library next term. For your child to be able to borrow a book they must be a member of the library. If your child isn't a member already the weekend would be a great time for you to visit the library and become a member. To sign up, you need to visit the library in person and provide identification with your current address. If your child has a membership card but has not borrowed within the last 12 months, their library card will be expired. We look forward to the library visits next term and making use of this amazing community resource.
