Student Agency Conferences

Wednesday 6th September will be our Student Agency Conferences.  Student Agency Conferences are significant in the educational journey of our students, they are not just a formality, but they are a powerful tool for your child's success. Students take the lead in showcasing their work, discussing their accomplishments, and setting goals. This empowers them to reflect on their own learning, strengths, and areas where they need support. It also helps them feel valued and understood, motivating them to strive for excellence.   Student Agency Conferences also offer a chance to set goals collaboratively. By discussing expectations and aspirations together, students, teachers and parents can create a shared vision for success, promoting a sense of responsibility and commitment.

During these conferences, it's important to ask questions that encourage reflection and deeper understanding of their learning. Here are some guiding questions for you to consider using to help promote reflective thinking;

Parent Guiding Questions

  • Can you tell me more about the learning task?
  • What helped you with your learning in the task? / What helps you to learn at school?
  • What was it that made you proud of your work?
  • What can we do to support you to achieve your goal?
  • How can I support you at home?
  • Is there anything we can do with you at home to support you with your learning?
  • Why did you choose that learning goal?
  • Why are you proud of this piece?
  • Why do you feel this way?
  • How do you think you have improved your student agency since the last student agency conference?
  • How do you learn best?
  • What do you enjoy most about school?
  • Can you tell me more about what you were learning about?
  • Why is ____ your favourite?
  • What can we do at home to help?

There are many avenues to support your child’s education and we encourage you to be actively involved in your child’s learning.  Supporting the Student Agency Conference is invaluable in supporting the academic and personal growth in your child.

Student Agency Conferences are one of the ways that families receive feedback about their child. This feedback alongside your child’s semester report and continuous reporting tasks helps to give families a clearer understanding of the progress of their child.
