ORCHESTRA APPRECIATION

This month in class we are appreciating incredibly rich music. The Grade 3-6s have been learning about composers and the instruments that make up a symphony or philharmonic orchestra. Using SQUILT (Silent Quiet UnInterupted Listening Time), students have been listening to music from modern composer Hans Zimmer and completing a drawing from what they visualise from an orchestral piece (such variety!) and also listening to Disney soundtracks and identifying instruments and instrument family groups they hear.  The Prep - 2s have been listening and moving to orchestral pieces and appreciating the art of storytelling that music provides. 'Peter and the Wolf' and 'Peer Gynt/In the Hall of the Mountain King' have provided plenty of opportunities to match their actions to the music - see below!
