Literacy

This we have focused on the 'w' sound - water on the web, w, w, w. The children have practised the letter formation, concentrating on the correct entry and exit points.

In Reader's Workshop, we read a story called Winnie the Witch. We discussed who the main characters were, where the story was set and why it was important for the characters and setting to change throughout the book. The students wrote a description of the main character, Winnie, in Writer's Workshop and had fun creating their own Winnie the witch during a craft session.

Numeracy

The students were introduced to 'Capacity' this week. We brainstormed all the words we could think of to describe how much a container might hold and the students demonstrated, that between them, they already knew a lot of the vocabulary we use.

We then went in the sand pit to put this language into practise.
