Monash Tech School Workshop

In an exciting and innovative collaboration with Monash Tech School, some of our Grade 5 and 6 students participated in the Space Habitat Designer session. This is our second program as part of the Monash Tech school’s Victorian Curriculum and Enrichment Series.

This immersive experience pushed the boundaries of their imagination and critical thinking skills, challenging them to create prototypes of homes on Mars. Students were introduced to the challenges and opportunities presented by life on Mars. From the harsh environment to limited resources, they were tasked with designing a habitat that could sustain human life on the Red Planet. The journey included a deep dive into the science and engineering principles required for Mars colonisation. Students learned about the planet's unique conditions, including extreme temperatures, thin atmosphere, and the absence of liquid water. Students had to consider factors like energy production, waste management, food cultivation, and psychological well-being. The students demonstrated exceptional creativity in their designs and envisioned entirely new ways of living in space.

The Grade 5 and 6 students who participated in Monash Tech School's Space Habitat Designer session demonstrated strong reasoning, critical thinking, and extraordinary creativity. They not only learned about the complexities of living on Mars but also showed that they are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of space colonisation in the future.

Last Day Term 3

Friday 15 September is the last day of Term and will be our annual Footy Pie Day. Students are encouraged to proudly wear their footy colours on Friday or an outfit that represents their favourite team of any sporting code.

Pies can be ordered now from Biddick's Bakery via the QKR App that we usually use for canteen purchases. Order must be in by 8pm Wednesday 13th September.

Pick and Pan are still open for usual ordering if students prefer an alternative option for lunch.

Please note school will finish at 2:30pm on Friday 5th September with our Assembly held at 1:50pm.

Term 4 - SunSafe and Hats

As per the DET SunSafe Policy, all students are required to wear hats throughout Term 4. ACPS has a navy blue bucket and wide brimmed hats as part of the school uniform to ensure appropriate sun protection. Please take some time in the holidays to ensure an appropriate hat is ready for Term 4 so all of our students can enjoy playing outdoors in the spring and early summer weather. Student without hats will need to play in the undercover shaded areas.

ACPS Trivia Night

Our Trivia Night will be held on Saturday October 14 at 7pm with the trivia and auctions to be finished by 10:30 and music and dancing to continue until late.

The night will feature a trivia quiz, live band, dancing, and both silent and live auctions with all proceeds going towards cumulative fundraising for new playground equipment for our wonderful students.

Tickets are $30 each or a table of 8 is $200. Everyone is welcome - the night is for anyone over 18, not just limited to ACPS families.

Please see the School Council President Page of this Newsletter for more information and booking details.
