Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Thank you!

We all thoroughly enjoyed our Book Week Parade on Monday morning - what a great way to start the week! I sincerely wish to thank our families for the effort that was made to support our children dressing up and joining in the fun.

Next week we will celebrate Literacy & Numeracy Week and we look forward to welcoming our school community once again to celebrate our wonderful writers at the Miners Rest Primary School Writers' Festival.

Staffing

Students in S1 have welcomed Mr Hill into their classroom. Due to the absence of Matthew Smith this term, Mr Hill will be the predominant teacher in the S1 classroom, with Kyra continuing to teach in the classroom, but absorbing further leadership responsibilities across the school. While Kyra remains connected to S1, and the Year 5/6

team, Mr Hill will be taking responsibility for the majority of teaching and learning throughout Term Three.

Year Three Camp

We farewelled our very excited Year 3 students this morning, and they have now safely arrived at Cave Hill Creek. The weather promises to be favourable and the Camp Team are looking forward to bushwalking, canoeing, archery, bike riding and much, much more.

Stay tuned for camp updates via our communication platforms. Year 3 families will be notified of the estimated time of arrival back from camp via Sentral on Friday.

iPad Information Evening

On September 6, we will be hosting an information session for families of students that will be in Year 3 in 2024. The session will commence at 5:00 pm with lots of information, as well as the opportunity for a Q&A session with Ben Mitchell (STEM teacher and eLearning Leader) and Phil Kalluri (Technical Support).

Assembly

Assembly will be at 2:45 pm this Friday. Families are warmly invited to join us!

What's next?

There is still so much more to look forward to this term....

  • Maths Show F-2
  • Maths Race - Years 3-6
  • Writers' Festival
  • Earth Education
  • Craft Crew Buddy Classes
  • Foundation Zoo Excursion
  • Kinder Picnic

Enjoy the rest of the week ,

Kylie Nissen.
