Curriculum Matters
Level 1
Students have been busy in Level 1. They have been working on information reports on an imaginary animal. This involved writing about the animal’s classification, appearance, habitat and diet. It was great to see the detail in their diagrams and writing.
Students have also started work on Book Report pencils displaying their knowledge about given books.
In maths we have been looking at addition to 20. Students have been adding numbers together to make 20. Some students chose to extend themselves by finding sums beyond equalling 20.
Level 2
The Level 2s have had quite a delicious week.
As a part of our response writing, we taste tested 5 different flavours of popcorn and wrote about their appearance, texture, and taste. Most of us liked the chocolate drizzle flavour the most!
We also explored fractions in real life, making mini pizzas during a Numeracy session after creating a paper fraction pizza.
Level 3
Kaboom
On Monday all Junior School students gathered on the school oval first thing in the morning to participate in the Kaboom Kid Sports morning.
The sports morning kicked off with a vibrant burst of energy as teachers and students had dance battles against each other. We were put into groups which included preps, ones, twos and threes and each group had 2 level 6 leaders to help. There were different activities focusing on tabloid sports designed to engage and amaze. The focus was on multi age teamwork and leadership for the grade 6 leaders.
The morning was a lot of fun for both students and staff!
RSPCA Cupcake Fundraiser
Thank you for to our school community for supporting our cupcake stall.
We raised $5, which will be donated to the RSPCA to support animals in need.
A big thank you to the Level 3 parents and students who supplied delicious cupcakes.
Level 6
On the 23rd of August the Level 6’s went to the MCG for an excursion all about Australian History.
Students were grouped into 3 or 4 and shared their knowledge of an Australia historical sports hero or on an historical place around the city. When we arrived at the MCG, we all walked around it and made a stop at each statue for others to present.
Once we were done, we entered the MCG. Everyone put their bags away and split up into their own classes. 6L started at the museum and 6K and 6P were doing the tour.
The tour was held by one of the tour guides which showed almost every single part of the MCG, and the museum had fun games, quizzes and activities.
Then around 2:30 we all left and arrived back at school.

VHAP Maths
On Monday the 21st of August, Miss Holsinger and 11 other students drove to Camelot Rise Primary School for a Maths Masterclass.
The first maths activity we did, was looking at Pascal’s triangle, and what kind of patterns we could find when we made our own triangle. We had a recess break and we got to explore the school. After recess, we did some cyphering. We looked at the Pigpen cipher and the Atbash cipher with some fun, holiday-planning activities.
We wrapped up the session by taking a group photo to remember our special mates.
