Wakakirri Celebrations

A growing body of Australian and international research demonstrates the enormous positive impacts that participating in The Arts can have on students’ academic and non-academic success. Over and above the obvious development of individual creativity and self-expression, school-based arts participation can increase learners’ confidence and motivation, thereby improving school attendance rates, academic outcomes and students' well-being and life skills.

Last week our 4-6 students performed in the Wakakirri Dance Story competition. This was such an amazing opportunity for all of our students to work towards a goal together and shine in the area of performing arts. a huge congratulations to students who received the following awards for their performance:

  • Storytelling Award for Story Theme and Concept
  • Ensemble Award for Group Dance
  • Stage Managers award for Teamwork (on-stage and off-stage)
  • Production award for Costumes
  • Creative production award for Lighting Design
  • Best Public Speaking Award

A huge thank you to Taz Hose our ex student who choreographed the dance and to all of the staff who helped to make the night a success.

It's Book Week

This week we are celebrating Book Week. This is a great opportunity to celebrate reading and encourage a life long love of reading. We are celebrating our annual Book Day on Friday August 25th.

On this day students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. Students will break into house teams after recess and engage in activities connected to different Book Week shortlist books.

On this day we are also having Family Fun Friday and invite families to come along to read and celebrate books with us. Parents are welcome to join in the fun and also come dressed as their favourite book character.  Please see an outline of the day below:
