TERM 3 MATHS
Throughout Term 3, we have been continuing to develop our number sense. We have learned more about place value and the value of each digit in a number. They partitioned double digit numbers into groups of tens and ones through a variety of engaging place value games and activities.
Students explored the concept of money and investigated all the different features of Australian coins and notes. They participated in a range of activities to develop their understanding of the value and size of each coin, including making money monsters and ordering the value of coins when making caterpillars.
Through a variety of hands-on engaging activities, students learnt to use balance scales to assist them when using different materials to compare and measure the weight of objects. The students also learned all about capacity and how much something can hold.
We looked at analogue and digital clocks and why it is important to know how to tell the time using these. The students learned how to make and tell o’clock times using analogue and digital clocks.
We also looked at equal sharing and that numbers can be either odd or even. They had fun creating odd and even monsters!
BOOK WEEK
Each year across Australia, The Children’s Book Council brings children and books together to celebrate Australian children’s literature through Book Week. This year’s theme for Book Week was ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’. It was amazing to see all the Foundation students' love of reading and the outstanding efforts that families put into their costumes. We had a fantastic day!
FATHER'S DAY/SPECIAL PERSON'S AFTERNOON!
Last Friday we had our Father’s/special person's afternoon. We had lots of fun making ties in the Foundation Gallery and then exploring all the other activities across the whole school!

PMP
In 2023 the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) will be running on a weekly basis for the Foundation students. Justin Scicluna runs our PMP program.
If there are any family members who would be willing to volunteer and assist with the PMP sessions, please email justin.scicluna@education.vic.gov.au. In order to assist with these sessions, you will require a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and it must be presented to the office before commencing the session.
