What a Disaster!

Over the last couple of weeks all students from Grades 3 – 6 have begun presenting their term long projects. I am so incredibly proud of the work and effort the students have put in to these projects. The project for both the Grade 5/6 students and the Grade 3/4 students was left pretty open, so they could follow their own interests and curiosity and I am absolutely thrilled with the final products. Some students have felt a little reluctant to get up and speak in front of their peers, so as a group we decided to add a mark for bravery, I love that they want to encourage each other to get up and speak. We also discussed the importance of presenting their project to the class, because apart from the benefits of practising public speaking, they are also teaching their peers about their chosen topic, that they otherwise wouldn’t learn about.

RoboCup Update

On Saturday 2nd September four teams of students entered the State Championships for RoboCup Junior. We have had so much fun over the last few terms, building robots, designing sets and choreographing dance moves for this competition. Whilst we didn’t come away with a place, our teams were definitely a crowd favourite, with a lot of crowd participation!

We thought it would be fun if the students presented their performances for the rest of the school, so on Monday 11th September, the four teams "Beans", "King Bob", "Chicken Wings" and "Disco Freddie" went on tour! The students from all grades were really impressed with the four performances and asked many wonderful and thoughtful questions.
