Our Prep team played Cygnet at a home game on Saturday 12 August. The players enjoyed the healthy rivalry on the field with a final score of 2-4 to Cygnet. Well done to the opposition who played tremendously well.
There are only two weeks left of scheduled soccer games for the season.
Grade 5/6 Girls Basketball
The SCC Grade 5/6 Girls Basketball Team recently achieved an impressive victory, defeating the Mount Carmel team in their first game with a final score of 26-14. It was a fantastic win that showcased not only their skill and dedication, but also the true meaning of team spirit.
The game was a display of unity and determination, with every girl contributing significantly to their team's triumph. The SCC girls played well in all areas of the game. The entire team played with heart and soul, never giving up, and giving 100%.
Sara, Elisabeth, Paige, and Maddie's prowess in defence was truly commendable considering it was their very first game of basketball! They displayed incredible tenacity, making it difficult for the opposition to break through their guard. Their defensive prowess set up numerous scoring opportunities for the SCC team, enabling them to dominate the match from the very beginning.
In our second game, we played against a more physical side from St Mary's. Our girls again showed their tenacity and fighting spirit eventually running away with a great win, 32 - 12. It was great to see Mabel, Bridie, and Carli really stepped up with the team scoring during this game, and the defence was also fantastic with Sara, Mabel, and Elisabeth shutting down the opposition!
While basketball is undoubtedly a sport of skill and strategy, it is also about building relationships, fostering teamwork, and nurturing a sense of belonging. In this regard, the SCC Grade 5/6 Girls Basketball Team exemplified true sportsmanship. Every player on the team supported and encouraged one another, celebrating each success and overcoming challenges together.
As a school community, we couldn't be prouder of our Grade 5/6 Girls Basketball Team. They have not only demonstrated their athletic prowess but also their ability to embody the values of perseverance and sportsmanship. This victory serves as an inspiration for all students to pursue their dreams fearlessly and embrace every opportunity that comes their way.
A big shout out to our parents and teachers who came and watched and supported the girls. It is this support from the parents, brothers, sisters, and teachers that build this sense of school community and belonging, and the girls had a ball (pun intended). Whether we win or lose, this support and encouragement the girls displayed will help them through every game!
We look forward to witnessing the continued growth and achievements of our talented athletes and hope to see more moments of triumph and fun in the games to come.
Go SCC!
