Book Review - Chapter 11-Conclusion - The Starter Framework Checklist

Daniel’s approach to goal-setting is a one I find valuable. I am someone who needs to explore ways to be more efficient. I regularly try find small adjustments to my routine that can become habits. One extra step can be sharing your goals or action steps with a trusted other, so they can check in on progress.

Since reading the book, there have been some new adjustments I have made to the way I manage my day and my week to help set aside more focused time. One of those has been setting aside time to check in on and respond to emails, rather than having them always open. I have found this has helped me when it has been time for more involved tasks. I also have a 24-hour window on the weekend when I do not check emails.

When I am with family, I am trying to make sure I am truly present with them. It is too easy for me to be in the room with them but to have my focus elsewhere. I am too aware of how quickly children grow up so I want to make sure I am making the most of the time with my husband and daughter or when I am speaking with my boys on the mainland.

I hope many of you will be able to join us tomorrow night for our Book Party. Daniel has stressed the importance of being part of a supportive community. That is why we have undertaken this book group and why we have scheduled the time to meet together in person. I want families to know that we are all on a similar journey, that none of us is perfect but we can find support and encouragement from each other.
