Occupational Therapy Onsite - Expressions of Interest Sought

Does your primary school child have a current NDIS plan? Are you on the waitlist for an Occupational Therapist to work towards your child's NDIS goals?

We are currently in the process of engaging Moira/Arliam Allied Health to work onsite from Term Four with some of our students. If your child currently has NDIS and goals related to Occupational Therapy, but you don't currently have a provider, we are seeking expressions of interest from families who would like to privately engage an OT from Moira/Arliam Allied Health, using NDIS funding. Please email me and briefly outline the OT therapeutic goals in the plan and I will be in contact. Lisa.Male@education.vic.gov.au

Mobile Phones, Devices and Smart Watches

We actively aim to keep all our students safe at school. One of the ways we do this is by enforcing our Mobile Phone Policy. A reminder to all families that students in all Victorian schools are required to switch off all mobile devices and securely store them, unless an exemption is granted at the principal's discretion. Exemptions are usually only granted in exceptional circumstances, such as for documented medical needs.

A mobile device is a device/phone/watch with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system, with or without a connection to a network.

At Skye Primary School, all students need to secure their smartwatch or phone at the office each day as they arrive on site. They may be again collected as they leave for the day. Some families may have inadvertently assumed that if smartwatches are in 'school' mode or not currently on a network they are OK to be worn. This is not the case, they also need to be secured at the office and not worn during class time.

By ensuring students are all following this policy, we aim to ensure students are safe from inappropriate online interactions, not subjected to online bullying, prioritising learning by having no interruptions from device notifications, and protecting students' privacy by not having photos taken of them by other students.

We understand that sometimes students may need to contact their family during school hours, please encourage them to speak to their teacher or our office staff. If you need to pass an important message to your child whilst they are at school, please contact the school.

Please have a chat with your children and ensure they are aware of our policy and expectations.
