After this week, we only have one fortnight to go until the next set of school holidays! Term Three is always a bit of a big term, with lots of special events and activities which don't fit in the rest of the school year. The students have definitely had a busy few weeks and no doubt are looking out for a break! We thank you for your continued support throughout all of our special days and events!
Literacy: To finish our Term Three literacy learning, we will revisit non-fiction texts in the forms of procedures. This means the students will pull apart procedures, learn about their structure, what makes them unique compared to other text types and explore lots of examples. This will also feed into our writing. Our link below about 'adverbs' is one part of how we encourage the students to write accurately to the text type.
Maths: Over the final weeks this term, we will revisit place value and then possibly money. We often revisit units such as place value due to the depth of the curriculum which needs to be covered. The students will continue to explore 4 and 5 digit numbers, understanding their value, play games and problem solve.
Inquiry: We have started to wrap up our short unit of liquids and solids. Our final experiment will look at the process of 'freezing' and changing a liquid back into a solid. The students will learn how this happens and under what conditions.
To compliment our inquiry unit, the Grade Threes have begun to plan their 'Art Show' piece. Both teachers and students are looking forward to this in Term Four!
Wellbeing: We have continued our topic of 'Positive Coping' which explores our emotions, their variations and strategies on how to deal with unexpected events in a manageable way.
This year's book parade and celebration of all things literacy was an absolute highlight. We will have more photos over the coming weeks, but these are just some of the amazing creations and costumes spotted in Grade Three!
We hope you got a good laugh at our dwarves picture and have a lovely fortnight!
