Dear parents, carers and friends of the school community

The Principal Class Team attended the annual Principal Association of Specialist Schools Conference held in Melbourne on 29 and 30 May.  The theme for the conference was “Culture Builds Connection".   We were fortunate to have several key note speakers that engaged leaders in a range of research based-evidence that focused on culture.  The keynotes speakers included

  • Mark Corrie – SPPIKE Program "Strengthening Principals' Professional Capability in Koorie Education," is a Victorian government initiative aimed at equipping school leaders with the skills to promote Koorie cultural identity and excellence.

  • Yemi Penn - Rebelliously Curious Leadership:  Creating Cultures that nourish and sustain.

  • Richard Gerver - Leading into the unknown ..... Together

  • Steve Simpson - The Real Curriculum - Unwritten Ground Rules and the culture of connection in schools.

As usual,  Dan, Ellen and I are grateful for the opportunity to step away from school to attend such important opportunities and to be able to integrate the learning back at school and in the first instance, share the learning with other leaders and develop ways we can embed some practices and principles into our every day work.   As a principal, I have always valued the colleagues from our neighboring specialists schools and over my 15 years as a principal have built strong connections with these school leaders and schools through various initiatives and programs.

Musica Viva Incursion

On Tuesday 3 June, we hosted a visit from doners from the Musica Viva company where they not only joined the secondary sub school for the Imagination Exploration  (Jazz Improvisation) performance but they also got to participate in a Q &A with our two music specialists, Debbie and Darren.

Special thank you to Jess Negus and Rosie Shaw from Musica Viva for facilitating the visit. We are very grateful to have had such a long partnership with you.  Thank you to the doners who visited us and for your generosity, making the program more affordable for our students.

Unwell students

If your child is presenting with cold and flu like symptoms we kindly ask families to keep your child at home if they are experiencing symptoms.

Each morning when students are getting ready for school, I ask that you be mindful of how your child is presenting.  If they/he/she is feeling/looking/acting unusual or is complaining of being unwell please take them to the doctor. Minimising the cross-infection will assist in reducing the risk of spreading bugs and viruses.

All student absences can be made through the dedicated student absence notification number. Text the student's name, room number and reason for absence.

Make sure you have the student absence notification number saved in your contacts:
