Celebrating Reading Success with Lexiles for Years 3-6
This week at assembly, we proudly recognised the reading achievements of our students through the Literacy Pro- Lexiles program. Students have been working hard to complete their Lexile quizzes and grow their reading comprehension skills — and their efforts are being rewarded with Literacy Pro Certificates for reaching key milestones. These certificates celebrate persistence, progress, and a growing love of reading.
As part of our focus on building strong readers, students from 3-6 are encouraged to borrow at least one book within their Lexile level each week during library time. This helps ensure they are reading books that are just right for them — not too easy, not too hard, but perfect for developing their skills.
In addition to this, students are also engaging with short reading tasks linked to their Lexile levels in class. These “short reads” give students the chance to practise comprehension strategies, build vocabulary, and gain confidence — all while tracking their own progress.
We’re incredibly proud of the effort our students are showing and can’t wait to see even more certificates being handed out soon. Keep up the great work, readers!

📖 National Simultaneous Storytime 2025 📖
We’re thrilled to share that our school proudly participated in this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) on Wednesday, 21st May!

NSS is a nationwide event that celebrates the joy of reading by having children across Australia read the same book at the same time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to promote literacy and a love of storytelling in a fun and engaging way. Our students gathered together to enjoy this year’s featured book, and the excitement in the room was contagious! It was a fantastic moment of shared learning and community spirit.
A big thank you to our staff and students for making this event such a success. We look forward to many more shared reading adventures!

📚 Premier’s Reading Challenge 2025 📚
We are excited to invite all our students to take part in this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge!
After a few initial delays, all students should now have received their updated login details. They can begin logging the books they’ve been reading on the official PRC website.
🔗 PRC Information and Website Access
🗓️ Important Date: All reading records must be completed and submitted by Friday, September 19, 2025, to successfully finish the challenge.
👩🏫 Need a Login? If your child needs a login or help accessing their account, please see Mrs. Wilson in the library.

If you have any other questions or need assistance with the PRC, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support every step of the way.
Please note that children in Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge as a whole class and will have their reading logged at school, parents do not need to log anything for the children in these grades. Students listen to their teacher read 30 wonderful picture books selected from the PRC.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community. It’s a privilege to work alongside such dedicated families. We look forward to a fantastic Term 2 filled with learning, growth, and shared experiences.
Happy reading!
THANK YOU!
Recently, we have had the help of many parents in our school community assist with the covering of reading books. These books are now being used by the children in Kindergarten and Year One and are an excellent learning resource that can now be used for years to come. We thank you for the time and effort you gave in assisting us.
It all starts here...
Check out Mrs Rose’s grandson Henry, starting early with books and loving every minute of it!
