Parent and Grandparent helpers wanted in the art room on Thursday afternoons to help the students with sewing please...!
The grade 3 and 4 students have begun sewing toadstools from felt. They have cut out some red and cream felt circles, practised tying knots, threaded their needles, and begun to use a running stitch for their toadstool top. We would love some extra help in the art room with this project on Thursday afternoons until the end of term:
4M: 11:30 - 12:30pm
4E: 12:30 - 1:30pm
3B: 2:30 - 3:30pm (after lunch)
No sewing experience is necessary, and if you are able to help with other grades as well as the class your child is in, that would be welcome. Please let me know if you are able to assist in helping by emailing me at:

We are doing this sewing activity because the beautiful-looking toadstools are more commonly seen in these cooler, wetter months, typically from late autumn to early winter. Students are always reminded in art never to touch a wild toadstool if they see one growing in the nature, but instead to admire it simply through seeing it.
Grade 1 and 2 students helped to draw, cut out and paint some fabulous neon Suessical fish for our Suessical production this weekend. Look out for their bright fish when you watch the show.
Prep students begun a new activity inspired by the indigenous calendar of waring season. They are modelling a lyrebird from magiclay and will complete these artworks soon.
Students in grade 6 looked at perspectives with a particular focus on one-point perspectives. In the art area of drawing, they focussed on the art element of line. They learned about the vanishing point, horizontal, vertical, diagonal and parallel lines. These works are now almost finished, with some students needing to add just a splash more watercolour paint and outline their work with a black sharpie.
These were some of the student's works prior to being painted:
Grade 5 students explored the art area of threads and textiles, with a focus on the art element of pattern within their weaving project. They learned about the warp and weft threads used in weaving. The students made their woven textile into an owl.
Enjoy your weekend!
