STUDENT LOGO COMPETITION – PERRY’S TUCKSHOP - Win $100 Tuckshop Voucher!

Calling all artists, designers, and creative minds! Our brand-new tuckshop, Perry’s, needs a logo—and we want YOU to design it!

Perry’s is named after our fierce and friendly school mascot, the crocodile, so the logo must have a crocodile theme and incorporate our school colours: green, white, black, and gold.

We’re looking for unique, eye-catching ideas to represent Perry’s to the whole community. The winning design will be featured as the official logo—and the designer will receive a special prize!

Send your design to marketing@balmoralshs.eq.edu.au

Get creative and help shape the future look of Perry’s!

Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week at Balmoral State High School

Balmoral State High School came together to acknowledge National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week, reflecting on the importance of truth-telling, respect, and building stronger relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader Australian community.

Our students and staff participated in meaningful conversations, classroom activities, and reflective moments that honoured the resilience, histories, and cultures of First Nations peoples. Together, we are committed to walking the path of reconciliation, showing respect, and creating a more inclusive future for all.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make these commemorations a powerful part of our school’s journey.

See below the activities taking place around the school, including the friendly visit from one of our student's puppy, Thor!

Academy and Program Showcase at Morningside State School

We recently hosted an Academy and Program Showcase at Morningside State School, where visiting students got a hands-on taste of what makes Balmoral unique.

From our Football and Netball Academies to the Music Academy and cutting-edge Aerospace Program (including drone experiences!), it was an exciting day designed to inspire young minds and build strong partnerships with our local primary schools.

A huge thank you to our teachers who came out got involved!

Weekly Debating Wrap Up

Would you rather choose your job based on money or your passion?

Well, that's what our Year 9s debated last night in their 4th round debate.

Unfortunately, neither team was successful against Canterbury or Villanova, however they made some strong arguments for both sides of the case.

Rebecca joins the Head Start program at Griffith University

It's pretty awesome to see students at Balmoral who are making steps now towards their career pathways this early in the game.

That’s why we want to give a huge shoutout — not only to our incredible Guidance Officers, Ms Niland and Ms Martschinke, for the impact they have on our students, but also a massive congratulations to Rebecca (Year 11) for being accepted into the Griffith University Head Start program!

Rebecca plans to study Law and Psychology after Year 12 — and thanks to Head Start, she’s already getting a head start on her university journey while still at school!

Getting a head start at university is an awesome choice, so we've attached some information below for any students considering this pathway:

 What’s Head Start all about?

  • Study a first-year uni course while in high school
  • Tuition fees covered
  • Guaranteed entry into a range of Griffith degrees
  • Bonus rank points + a real university experience
  • Designed for motivated students ready to stretch their skills

And it’s not just Griffith — other unis like QUT, UQ, UniSQ, and USC offer similar programs!
