Prep Update

Our Learning - Weeks 8 & 9
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
-To describe how people can feel when others make decisions that are not fair or not kind.
-To describe our likes and dislikes and to compare how they are similar to and different from their friends.
English:
-Our phonics lessons will be focusing on the sounds the letters ‘j’, 'u' and 'z' make and discover words and objects that begin with those sounds, as well as practising writing those letters.
-Read Little Learners texts to practise our segmenting (sounding out each sound in a word) and blending (blend sounds together to read a word).
-Continue to look at images and describe what we see to assist with developing our oral language.
-To explore picture books by particular authors- Julia Donaldson and Aaron Blaybey.
-Continue to utilise the handwriting 'Hartley Knows' program and learn to form the 'ear shape'.
-Continue to practise creating writing and attempt to spell words by writing down the sounds that we can hear.
Maths:
-Continue to build our knowledge of maths concepts in our Maths Daily Review.
-Name and discuss 2D shapes and make shapes using different materials, as well as creating two-dimensional shape animals.
Inquiry:
Our Inquiry unit continues to focus on change.
-To understand how and why things change and reflect on our Inquiry unit over the term.
Friendly Reminders:
-Pyjama Day- Friday, 4th July. Please bring a gold coin donation to go towards the local food bank.
-Last day of Term 2- Friday, 4th July. Students finish at 2:30pm and reports will be available on Compass.
-Monday 21st July- Term 3 commen.
