This week I had the pleasure of attending the last workshop with our Pasifika students that was hosted by Le Mana Pasifika. Miss Abbie Sheers and Todd Caldwell have worked hard to engage our Pasifika students in this opportunity, which saw a group of approximately 25 students come together, over 8 weekly sessions, to recognise and celebrate their cultures. The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a non-profit organisation that enables young people to be connected and reach their full potential. Le Mana Pasifika is one of the many programs/resources on offer to young people from 12 years of age. We are so grateful that they were able to work with students across all year levels at Hillsmeade and look forward to working with both CMY and Le Mana Pasifika on an ongoing basis. It was truly a special program for our students to be a part of.
Please be aware that there is a general shortage in school uniform availability across Victoria. PSW (our uniform supplier) are trying their utmost best to get school uniforms items in stock, especially as we have now hit winter. I ask for your patience, but also encourage you to go in store and order what you need so that when it arrives it can be shipped to you quickly. I completely understand your frustrations and both myself and our School Council President, Carmen Powell, have been liaising with PSW to try and get some progress in this space. I thank you in advance for your patience.
A reminder too that we do have some second hand uniform items on sale at the school office if you would like to come and peruse what is available. Our current stock is also limited, however you may just find what you need!
Our Year 6 students have been working very hard to prepare their market stalls and products in readiness for their big day on the 27th June. Students across Hillsmeade will be able to purchase items and participate in a wide variety of activities, whilst the Year 6 students try to raise as much money as they can to support their end of year celebrations.
I encourage our students to bring along coins and enjoy all the activities that are on offer. I also wish our Year 6 students the very best of luck with their small business ventures!
Stay tuned for information that will be forthcoming early in Term 3 to assist Hillsmeade PS in an annual fundraiser. The Colour Run will once again return in 2026, however we are looking forward to the support from our community through this event, to continue enhancing our school facilities and grounds.
On Thursday this week we had our annual Yr 4-6 Athletics Carnival at Casey Fields. This event would not be possible without the tireless work of dedicated staff. I'd like to make special mention to our new PE team of Mr Travis Cole and Mr Jarryd Foster, who have worked diligently to pull the event together, resulting in an incredibly successful day! A big congratulations goes to our wonderful students for their participation and success, as they competed in such a wide variety of events. These results then help to build the school's athletic team that will represent Hillsmeade at the district event coming soon.
This year Term 3 is only 9 weeks long and with so many other events occurring, we have decided to move Family-Teacher Conversations from the end of Term 3 to the first week of Term 4. Further information will come towards mid Term 3 for online booking updates.
A reminder that the last day of Term 2 is a 2.30pm dismissal time.
OSHC provider TeamKids will be available from that time. They will also offer a holiday care program during the term break.
Teachers are currently working diligently to assess your child's learning in order to prepare their end of semester reports.
Reports will be available via Compass on Friday 4th July.
