This week I extend two invitations to parents within the College community to join us at either or both of the below opportunities:
Visit from Master of Ormond College, Dr Ari Metuamate – tomorrow at lunch the new Master of Ormond College will speak with students and parents about residential college life, and about Ormond is particular. There is a long connection between Ormond and the Western District, with the college’s principal benefactor Francis Ormond drawing much of his wealth and reputation as a pastoralist in the region. This is a rare opportunity to hear about the benefits and structures of residential life at a University of Melbourne college. I warmly invite all interested parents to join us in the library at 1:00ish tomorrow.
Opening of the Middle Years landscaping project – this project was initiated by and has been largely funded through the generosity of the Parents’ and Friends’ Association. Some years ago, a number of parents noted the stark change between the play environment at Myrniong and what new Year 7s experienced when they arrived in the Middle School. The new space merges landscaping with play and socialisation structures to give our Middle School students more places to be and more things to do in break times. We will open the space, including naming and dedicating it at 3:45pm on Wednesday 4 June. All parents are most welcome to join us.
