Principal's Report - Week 6 Newsletter

Welcome to our Week 6 newsletter! I hope you enjoy the fabulous photos from our athletics carnival. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year due to a conference, but I heard it was a fantastic day. Congratulations to all who participated and put forth their best effort! A special thank you to Mr. Craig Cook and Mrs Amanda Jones for their hard work and excellent organisation. I know a highlight was the Jackson Memorial Cup and it was wonderful to have Jackson's family in attendance for this.

This edition also includes an extract from Ashah Hillier's powerful and moving speech, "Filling His Shoes," which pays tribute to our much-missed Jackson Clarke. Thank you so much Ashah for sharing this!

I am incredibly excited to announce that next term, we will be getting our very own school bus, followed later in the year by a school car! A huge passion of mine is ensuring that our students and staff have the same opportunities as those in metropolitan or larger regional areas. We hope that the bus and car will make transportation for excursions, sporting competitions, and essential professional learning opportunities for staff easier and more accessible. Both vehicles will proudly display THS signage, and we can't wait to start using them!

Unfortunately, we were unable to establish a P&C group this year. I understand this reflects the busy lives of our parents and carers. A huge thank you to our past P&C president, Roxanne Bancroft-Stuart, and her committee for their tireless work and support of the school. One of the important roles of the P&C was to provide a parent/carer and community voice, and it is vital that this opportunity continues. Therefore, we are establishing a parent/carer focus group that will meet once a term. These meetings will usually coincide with other school events, providing a platform for the school to consult and hear from parents and carers. Our first meeting will be held on the same night as the subject selection interviews on Tuesday, July 1st. More details can be found in this edition.

Finally, THS is thrilled to support the Tenterfield Eisteddfod! We have entered students in the speech, drama, and music sections, and I am excited to share that some staff members, including Mr. James Kelly, Mr. Ben Ryan, and myself, have also entered various sections. It has been quite some time since I participated in an eisteddfod or public performance (aside from delivering speeches in my role), so I will be nervous and a bit rusty. I think I'm even competing against Mr Kelly in one section!!! However, it is important we model to our students the importance of having a go and stepping outside our comfort zones.

Stay warm and thank you for your ongoing support!
