3/4LK News

Mathematics

Students have been most recently learning about fractions in Maths. Fractions have a wide use in our everyday living and it can be applied across a range of categories. Students created these fractions posters as mathematicians who were discovering how many people in 3/4LK represented a variety of things, such as gender or how many students were smiling in our school photo. Once the data was collected, students were asked to display their answers in a variety of interesting ways, including ordering fractions along a continuum.

Literacy

At the beginning of Term 2, Year 3/4 were learning about the water cycle. Students developed specific vocabulary in this area and understood concepts such as where water comes from, how it moves and how it evolves in different states of matter. Gaining knowledge that only 1% of Earth's water is drinkable, students discussed the importance of fresh water and how to make ethical choices with their individual water use. Here are our posters from the end of the topic that summarise our learning.

Buddies

3/4LK are buddy classes with 1/2B. Each Friday morning we sit together at church and during the week the students enjoy seeing each other on the playground. When we get the opportunity, our buddies work in pairs or small groups to complete learning activities. Students develop social skills such as collaboration, self awareness and responsibility of their learning when working across a variety of year levels. Our older students learn just as much from their younger peers as the other way around.

Thanks for showing interest in 3/4LK's learning,
