Year 5/6 ADANAC CAMP 2025

Our Camp at ADANAC!

This year on the 21st of May, the 5/6 level set off on a journey to a place filled with independence, bonds and fun! The 5/6's went to the Yarra Junction Resort Camp, ADANAC. We were all very excited for this day to come!  We had lots of fun at Yarra Junction, with all the activities and we learnt much more about our friends, ourselves and people we didn't even know. As Nicky, our MC for our main meals said:

“Friends who suffer together, make memories together.”

At the camp (which was a HUGE resort) there were different parts of the camp where our cabins were located. There was the Lakeside View, the Guest Flat/Guest House, Acacia and North Lodge area. There were so many amazing places at the camp that the 5/6's greatly enjoyed! The breakfast, lunch and dinner meals were yummy and delicious! All the food was made with care and love from the chefs at ADANAC Camp!

We all got split up into groups 1 through 10, with about 12 children in each group. In these groups we would stick together through the entire range of activities built for teamwork and trustworthiness. One of our favourite activities was raft building, where we had to work as a team and build a strong and stable raft to float on the water. Then we would race in two teams to see who could get the marshmallow sticks on the bank first! Another one of the 5/6's favourite activities at ADANAC was the flying fox. The flying fox was about 60 metres long and it went over the lake. Everybody enjoyed flying over the lake, wind in their hair and taking in an amazing view! Plot twist, then you would have to run up a very steep hill and while that's happening you would race the hook that is being brought back by a bicycle rode by one of the people in your group (It was a very good workout to burn the carbs!) There were activities such as canoeing, archery, camp cooking, night activities, orienteering and much more. To also keep us entertained during our meal times, we did fun activities and games such as lip sync battles and the pass it on ´chicken banana´ song.

We went to this camp to have fun and unite as not only friends, but as the SJV community.

We believe this camp brought us together and made us learn a thing or two about one another. All the staff at the camp were all extraordinarily helpful throughout our stay at camp! Shout out to Nicky who was our MC for meals. She was such a fantastic host, keeping us kids entertained! All 5/6's were very grateful for the ADANAC camp experience!

On behalf of the 5/6's, we would like to thank all the staff at the camp who were very helpful and very fun. We would also like to thank all the teachers and LSO's who attended the camp with us and kept us safe over the two nights. We would especially like to thank the four parents who attended camp with us and added extra fun! Looks like everybody really enjoyed spending time at this special place!
