Year 5/6 students will participate in Relationships and Sexuality Education. These comprehensive sessions align with the Victorian Curriculum levels and cover age-appropriate materials and content.
Key themes of this program are protective behaviours, consent, help-seeking, sexual and reproductive anatomy, diversity, puberty, reproduction, and relationships. The program also includes education on socialising online. These sessions will be coeducational and the SHV educators will be supported by our Year 5/6 teachers.
Family Engagement
The Victorian Government reinforces the Child Safe Standards to strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Whittlesea Primary School has continually reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website or in a hard copy folder at the school office. We are committed to improving our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and school community members on further strengthening our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
We are happy to allow families to develop and review these parts of our commitment to creating and maintaining positive partnerships regarding child safety and wellbeing at the school.
If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, don't hesitate to contact Whittlesea Primary School at whittlesea.ps@education.vic.gov.au or by phone on 9716 2140
