YEARS 5 & 6 INDONESIAN LUNCH - 26/11/2024

By: Zoe Medley and Thea Anderson (5RO

The lunch was from NOVA Balinese Kitchen in Geelong.  The people who cooked this delicious food were Pak (Mr.) Nova and Bu (Ms.) Mona and Bu (Mrs.) Kristie. We started off by eating mie goreng (fried noodles) then we had some nasi goreng (fried rice) and a soy kerupuk (soy cracker). The ingredients in the food included sweet soy sauce, capsicum, carrot, corn, onion and garlic. There were 199 students plus staff that enjoyed this amazing food.  We went to our Indonesian teacher Bu De Silva afterwards and said, “That was the best lunch we have ever had!!”

This is what some of the students said:

Hiruja  – Loved it, 10 stars. Gordon Ramsay level.

Felix - The rice was the best I have ever tasted.

Isaac – Very nice.

Madalin – It was amazing, and I liked it.

David – It was so good.

Ewan – The food was amazing, and the rice was the best.

Oliver - …the soy cracker was my favorite.

Bodhi – The fried rice was delicious

Abigail – The food was superb, and I enjoyed all of it.

Terima kasih banyak (Thank you very much) to NOVA Balinese Kitchen (7/321 Pakington St., Newtown) for preparing and cooking the lunches, and transporting them to Colac. This was certainly a highlight for the Grade 5 and 6 Indonesian students (and staff!). Well done to the students using their Indonesian language (Terima kasih – Thankyou) as they collected their lunches.
