Health & Wellbeing
Monash Health - Children's Health and Wellbeing Local.
The Children’s Health and Wellbeing Local is a health and wellbeing service for children aged up to 12 years and their families experiencing developmental, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
This free service is open to families with children aged up to 12 years, living in or attending school in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey or Cardinia Shire. You do not need Australian residency or a Medicare card to access this service.
It provides a central hub for families from Melbourne’s south-east to access a range of health and wellbeing services.
The Children’s Local service is a purpose-built space located within Monash Health’s Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre and is located at the heart of Cranbourne within easy walking distance to shops, cafes and parks. We also provide services at two other locations in Melbourne’s south-east.
It offers a range of support services to families, including:
- Specialist consultations: support and advice from paediatricians, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and more.
- Parent, family and carer support: assistance to help build skills and confidence in supporting your child’s development and unique needs.
- Connection to services: connecting you to services and support within the community.
The Children’s Health and Wellbeing Local is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and the Australian Government through the Head to Health Kids initiative.
This service is currently operating through targeted referral only, with public referral expected to open in early 2025.

School can't resources for parents/carers and teachers
‘School can’t’ occurs when a child is so overwhelmed and stressed by the demands of school that they find it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to attend. Autistic children and young people who experience school can’t often experience extreme stress and/or anxiety about school. This may mean they:
- Miss days of school,
- Are frequently late,
- Or leave school early.
About Amaze’s school can’t resources
Funded by the Victorian Department of Education, Amaze has created a video and two written resources on the topic of school can’t. These resources provide valuable insights into understanding and identifying the early signs of school can’t, as well as how to implement strategies. These resources would be useful for parents, carers and teachers of Autistic children/students.
Mackillop Family Services
Pakenham Springs welcomes Mackillop Family Services to our school. We are excited for the services Mackillop are able to provide to our families and students. Services will be available via invitation from Mackillop as well as through a referral process from the Wellbeing Team. School holiday programs will also be available. All volunteer or referral requests will be passed onto Mackillop Family Services. Please see the flyer outlining some of the services they can provide.
Mental Health changes over time in response to different stresses and experiences. Many factors, both internal and external, affect where someone generally sits on the mental health continuum and where they sit at any given point in time.
Remember to reach out to your support networks if unexpected thoughts or feelings arise. Professional support is always available when you need it.
NDIS Funding
The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and improved quality of life.
The NDIS also connects anyone with a disability to services in their community.
This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries, and schools, as well as information about the support provided by each state and territory government.
The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and support they need.
This includes supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive support early to achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.
How to apply for NDIS Funding
At PSPS, we value community input.
