Back to School!

Miss Marks' Message
Hello everyone,
Happy new year! I hope all of our families have had a wonderful holiday.
In anticipation for the beginning of the school year, I thought I would share with you some reminders and upcoming events we can all look forward to! Firstly, a big welcome to our new families across the school, whether in Foundation or the many of you joining us at other year levels.
Construction
Construction works have continued throughout the break to prepare further facilities for our students. The new classrooms will be ready for our Senior School students next week. We have also had new toilet facilities installed and these will be open for our Middle School and Senior School students next week. Foundation and Junior School students will continue to use the toilets at the main building.
It is so exciting to have these new facilities for our students. Thank you to our staff team, School Council and the community for your support and patience while these works were completed.
Construction works also continued at the back of the school oval during the holidays. We are waiting an update for the next stage of the ELC when the new septic works are complete. In the coming weeks we will also have various ramps improved within our school grounds.
Book Packs & Parent Payments
Book Packs have arrived at school and will be provided to students on their first day back. It is wonderful that all of our students will have exactly what they need in their classroom on the first day! It is now time to pay contributions for these, which can be done via your family BPay biller code. Support in making these contributions in a timely manner is greatly appreciated. The payments not only help us provide these materials, they also support us in sustaining other programs across the school. Please feel free to email or call the office if you need your family BPay code.
Preparing for School
Before students return, it is time to think about setting them up for success at school. This might include resetting sleeping routines, getting uniforms and bags ready and making sure your hat is packed from day one! Please ensure all of your belongings are labeled with your name. Please think about the routines to embed at home to ensure students come back to school ready to thrive.
TPS families will be familiar with the "Read Eat Sleep Puff Chat Repeat" advice which is designed to support a lifestyle and routine to making learning as easy and enjoyable for your child as possible. This is practical advice to prepare for the return to school next week. You can read more about this later in our newsletter.
Learning to Learn
To commence the year, students will participate in our annual ‘Learning to Learn’ program. This is time is dedicated to teaching expectations and routines that will operate in classes and specialists that ensure calm, orderly and rigorous learning takes place in class each and every day. Teachers will also commence literacy and numeracy assessments so as they begin to plan teaching and learning experiences they are taking into account the needs of the students. All students, Foundation to Year 6 will begin school on Thursday January 30.
Family Night
Finally, this year we're pleased to invite all families to our Open Night on Wednesday February 5th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The purpose of this night is to provide a chance to meet and greet with teachers and visit the school early in the year. Classrooms will be open for families to visit. Given the ongoing construction work at the school unfortunately we are not able to have the event with food trucks like in 2024, however we invite families to bring their own picnic and enjoy some time on the lawn outside the Mudbrick building.
The Open Night is a great opportunity early in the year to foster positive relationships between families and the teachers that will be supporting their students during the year. The night will be an informal chance to meet and greet. As the year progresses your interactions with school staff may require more formal communication, even including the need to raise concerns and issues related to your child's learning and wellbeing.
During the Family Night, classrooms will be open 4:30 - 5:30pm, and families who would like to bring their own picnic are welcome to join us on the lawn outside the Mudbrick building 5:30 - 6:30pm. I really hope you can join us!
Take care, and see you next week!
