The Year 12’s of 2025 journeyed across to Yea for their Retreat Day

on Friday 31st of January

We had a fantastic day at the Yea Football Club Rooms, and students had the opportunity to make some preparations for the big year ahead. The students all enjoyed working together and set their theme for the year, which is ‘Guided by Faith’. They also established their theme song 'Oceans' and worked on how they want to approach their studies and be their best selves while also working together and supporting each other in the coming very intense months.

Our day was led by Ange Virgona, who is well known for his work with students and leadership groups in the MACs diocese and he got the students thinking and talking about their hopes and aspirations as they put together their own personal folders full of motivational ideas and goals.  The other staff who attended were myself, Rochelle Gough, Allison King, Lachie King and Wayne Smith and we were all impressed at the efforts and participation of the group as a whole!

Finally, after walking around a giant canvas labyrinth, thinking and planning in silence, the students wrote a letter to themselves, which was sealed and will be given back to them on their final day of Year 12 in October.

We then walked over to the Country Club hotel and shared a meal together out in the garden. It was great to have other staff from St Mary’s join us and overall, it was a really fabulous day.

The students connected as a cohort and are looking forward to all the possibilities of the year!
