 3/4 CLASSROOM

This fortnight, our Year 3/4 students have been engaged in a range of meaningful learning experiences. It has been lovely to see them actively involved and confidently sharing their ideas with one another.

In English, students have been developing their narrative writing, focusing on creating engaging ideas and using descriptive language, including Onomatopoeia, to bring their stories to life. It has been encouraging to see students becoming more confident and creative in their writing.

In spelling, we have been revising words and exploring patterns such as homophones, silent letters, and different vowel sounds. Students are showing increasing independence when applying these skills in their writing.

We also finished reading Kensuke’s Kingdom, which the class really enjoyed, and have started Wongutha Tales, introducing them to short Indigenous stories and perspectives.

In Maths, students have been working on multiplication and division, using arrays to understand number relationships and build confidence with their number facts.

In Religion, students have been learning about Lent and Easter. They explored the three key practices of Lent, almsgiving, prayer, and fasting, and how these help Christians prepare for Easter. The class created a Lenten agreement together, and students reflected on their own personal Lenten commitments. They wrote prayers for our class Lenten Prayer Tree and made connections to the Passover meal and their own experiences of family and community gatherings.

In AUSLAN, students have been practising classroom instructions and everyday phrases, focusing on handshape, movement, and location in their signs.

In Inquiry, students explored how individuals contribute to their communities. They completed a fact file on an Australian person who has made a positive change, showing interest in the ways people can make a difference.
