Recently, our students completed NAPLAN, and we are so proud of how they approached it. Everyone gave their best, and supported each other along the way. At Yarra Road Primary School, we know that every child approaches learning differently, and NAPLAN is just one way to celebrate the growth and skills our students develop every day. It was wonderful to see our students give their best and support one another. We want to acknowledge the resilience and focus our students showed. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
We would like to sincerely thank our outgoing School Council members for the time,
dedication, and commitment they have given to our school community. Their
contributions, thoughtful input, and willingness to support the work of the council has played an important role in helping guide our school’s direction and ensuring the best outcomes for our students. We are truly grateful for the energy and care the following outgoing members have shown throughout their time on council:
Ben Cameron
Dikesh Ghandi
Pam Jones
Mark Kennedy
Gareth Ross

We would love to have your help on Sunday, 22nd March, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a Working Bee to help make our school look amazing for the students. This is a great chance to come together as a school community, meet other families, and enjoy a morning of teamwork and fresh air. No special skills are needed, just a willingness to pitch in! If you have any gardening tools, gloves, or wheelbarrows, feel free to bring them along.
Children are welcome to attend under parent supervision, and we encourage everyone to come and be part of this rewarding project. Whether you can stay for half an hour or the full morning, every bit of help makes a difference.

We truly appreciate your support and look forward to a fun and productive morning together!

Next week, the AEU (Australian Education Union) has planned stop-work action for union members on Tuesday, 24th March. Yarra Road Primary School will remain open for the day, although the day may run differently to a usual school day. We are currently reviewing the arrangements and will provide families with confirmed information as early as possible, with formal communication sent on Monday, 23rd March (or earlier if possible).
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video, and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school, and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. Monday 30th March, 2026. This is the date where Yarra Road’s annual World’s Greatest Shave event coincides with Crazy Hair Day as a way to raise awareness and funds to support the Leukaemia Foundation.
On this day, the Year 6s have the opportunity to take an active part in the special assembly and have their hair shaved or coloured in front of the school. There are 3 ways that the Year 6s can be involved.
They can join our ‘Yarra Road Shavers’ on the World's Greatest Shave website
They can pay a once off payment through the Compass event as a donation to the Leukaemia Foundation.
They can style their hair in a weird and wacky way and bring a gold coin donation for Crazy Hair Day.
Each one of these options is a great way to show support for this cause.
On this day, the Prep to Year 5s will show their support through Crazy Hair Day. They can do this by styling their hair in weird and wacky ways too, and bringing a gold coin donation for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Already, we have raised over $1,500, surpassing our original goal. To put that into context, we have raised enough to contribute to finding people and their family somewhere to stay while they are receiving treatment. This is such a wonderful thing that we can do to support people who are desperately in need, and every little bit helps.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact Grace Smith. You can find her email address on Compass and she is happy to help in any way she can.
Thank you for your ongoing support and we are looking forward to our special event!
