Education in Faith

Reconciliation Faith Night
Last night, we held our Reconciliation Family Faith Night. Thank you to all of our families who attended alongside their children. It was a wonderful evening spent unpacking, as a community, the meaning of Reconciliation.
Our students demonstrated a strong understanding of forgiveness, what it looks like in their lives and why it is so important. They also reflected on the significance of maintaining a connection with Jesus and God, who always offer us forgiveness when we fall short.
We are grateful for the opportunity to journey together in faith and to support our students as they continue to grow in their understanding of Reconciliation.
We continue to pray for our students who will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Week 10. May they feel the loving presence of God and experience His mercy, peace, and forgiveness as they take this important step in their faith journey.
Celebrating Catholic Education Week
This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week, an important time for all Catholic schools to recognise and celebrate the faith that is at the heart of our communities.
The theme for this year is “Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick.” This theme acknowledges the significance of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of our local Church in Melbourne. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, our mother church, is named in his honour.
Catholic Education Week provides an opportunity for schools to celebrate their Catholic identity, the vital role they play within their local communities and the strength of Catholic education as a whole. It is a time to recognise how Catholic schools strive to make a difference in the lives of students and the wider community by encouraging young people to live out the message of Jesus and walk in the way of the Gospel.
Tomorrow, our Year 6 Faith and Mission Leaders will be attending the St Patrick’s Schools Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral in the city. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together with peers from other Catholic schools, celebrate their faith and deepen their understanding of service, leadership and community.
To align with this year’s theme, we have structured our Religious Education learning around Saint Patrick’s Breastplate prayer.
Throughout this term, our students’ faith learning has focused on the line “Christ behind me.” With the support of their teachers, students have been unpacking what this means in their lives; developing an understanding that Jesus is always walking with us, guiding and supporting us in all that we do.
Many year levels have also explored the lives of those who have
come before us and helped shape our Church. Students have been learning about inspiring figures such as Mary MacKillop, Nano Nagle and Saint Patrick himself, recognising the ways in which they lived out their faith and continue to guide us today.
