Book Week Celebrations

Another amazing Book Day Celebration was held yesterday, with new and old book characters bursting to life!  A huge thank you to students and families for your amazing efforts and participation in creating another memorable book day event.

Thank you also to everyone who supported this year's Book Fair.  The profit from sales resulted in us raising $380 towards new books for the library.

Finally, we would also like to extend a huge thank you to Nicole and Emily for all their organisation and to all 'Grugs' for their contribution to the day.  It may not come as a surprise that Book Day rates as one of our favourite days of the year, and we would like to acknowledge the incredible effort Nicole, in particular, puts into organising, setting up and running the Book Fair, as well as coordinating and compering the Parade. Thank you Nicole!

Following the school parade, the whole school set out to share in the fun with the Kinder children, with a parade around the town's netball court.  It was then back to school, where students spent the rest of the day participating in three cross-aged activities based around the beautiful short-listed books; Emperor's Egg by Rae Tan, Once I was a Giant by Zeno Sworder and Peculiar Parents by Stephanie Owen Reeder and Ingrid Bartkowiak.

Ski Program

While it wasn't a gorgeous bluebird day, ideal snow conditions and regular falls throughout the day did provide the perfect conditions for the final day of our downhill snow program.  

Fingers crossed the conditions are just as good next week, for the start of our cross-country ski program.  

Organising the ski program is a massive undertaking, with many last minute changes and logistics to navigate.  Steph does an amazing job, week after week, and we are so grateful for her knowledge, effort and expertise in handling this all so efficiently.  Many thanks also to all our accompanying staff and parent volunteers for their support and making this opportunity possible.

3/4 French Performance

Next Tuesday 11 August, Year 3/4 will be performing a short play, La Petite Poule Rouge, for our junior classes. Parents are also welcome to attend.

The play will be performed in French and translated by narrators. Students have prepared props, staging and their roles over the past few weeks and are looking forward to demonstrating their fine French accents.

The performance will take place in the French classroom after recess at 11:05 am and is approximately 10 minutes duration.

As this performance will be held during class time, please enter the school via the School Office to sign–in before heading to the French classroom.

Kitchen Garden

Thank you to Kathryn and the Kitchen Garden Crew, who this week treated everyone to another delicious lunch.  This week's Special Fried Rice was well received, with lots of  IOU requests!

Skipping Rope Thief!

It's nesting season again, and while we dodge the plovers, who in their wisdom have decided to nest on the roof of the office, we are also struggling to to keep a hold of our skipping ropes, which the local magpies have taken a liking to!  

It is likely our thieving magpie may grow tired of skipping and discard the ropes in time, so please return any you may find.

Year 5s Get to Drop a Line!

This year, the Victorian Fisheries Authority are providing Grade 5 students at all Victorian schools, including ours, the opportunity to receive a FREE Little Angler fishing kit. Grade 5 students have been selected based on the Victorian Curriculum focus, movement and motor development, and safety considerations.  Each kit includes a rod, reel with line, tackle tray, some tackle (including fishing hooks and lead-free sinkers) and information on how to use them to catch a fish.  The kits will be distributed next week, and any family not wanting to participate is asked to contact the school by end of school, Monday.

2027 Prep Enrolment and

Transition Activities 

Enrolments for Prep 2027 are now due. 

Our formal transition program will commence on Tuesday, 20th October at 9am and we look forward to helping the children settle into the next phase of their educational journey.
