Notes from the Music Department

The annual Senior Ensembles Rehearsal Camp and Primary School Concert Tour is a very special, large-scale excursion. The ensembles involved are Choir, Scimitar String Orchestra, Senior Concert Band, and Senior Guitar Ensemble…a total of 130 students! 

Our 2026 Music Camp was held from Sunday 22 – Tuesday 24 March at Fairbridge Village (an hour’s drive south of Perth), and to make it all happen, it required three 50-seat coaches, a luggage truck, 4 Music staff and 8 parent helpers. The students had 7 hours of rehearsals on Sunday and Monday, then on Tuesday, we came back to Perth for concerts at Applecross Primary School and Ardross Primary School. 

These concerts gave our students an important performance opportunity and are invaluable outreach to our next generation of Music students.  I am indebted to the primary school Principals and Music Specialists for working with me to make our visits run smoothly and successfully. 

Finally, my sincere thanks go to all our Music students, staff and parents who made it a truly special event; the way everyone worked hard, looked after each other, and represented Applecross SHS makes me very proud.
