Tennis Update – Term 2, Week 1

Over the holidays, it was fantastic to see such a strong number of tennis students across all year groups competing in local tournaments, with excellent results across the board. Well done to all place-getters, and to everyone who got out there and competed.

To kick off the term, our after-school squads have already commenced, with another great turnout of students signed up. These sessions involve fitness, drills, modified gameplay, and match play, all led by former students with a high level of experience.

In Week 3, we’re proud to have three of our students representing WA in the 2026 Pizzey Cup team, held this year in Perth. Congratulations and best of luck to Elena Manoj, Trevor Eastwood, and Karin Hiramatsu. A special mention also to Sam Mitchell, who has been selected as a reserve player.

Over Weeks 2 and 3, we will see 32 students from various year groups competing in our Applecross UTR Tennis Tournament, held on our school courts after school. We’re looking forward to some healthy competition - good luck to all involved!

On Monday of Week 4 (May 11), our Boys Slazenger Cup team will compete in the final at the State Tennis Centre, commencing at 4:00pm against rivals Wesley College. We wish the team the very best of luck!

On Tuesday of Week 4 (May 12), at 5:15pm in the Auditorium, Study and Play USA, a college recruitment agency, will visit Applecross to present valuable information on college pathways and scholarship opportunities. This will be highly beneficial for any students considering this pathway or wanting to learn more. All students and parents are welcome to attend - please register via the flyer sent to tennis families via email.

In Term 2, students will also complete their fitness testing. This is a great opportunity to track improvements and identify current strengths and areas for development.

Midway through the term, our tennis captains, Dylan Chuah and Elena Manoj, will be organising and hosting their first social tournament of the year. Keep an eye out for more information and sign-up details.

Finally, our Tennis P&C will be meeting on Tuesday 19 May (Week 5) to continue planning ways to raise funds and create more opportunities for our students. All families are warmly invited to attend and get involved.

Wishing all students a fantastic Term 2!
