Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships

The Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships will be held at Mt Buller from 16-23 August 2026. The primary school competition starts on Sunday 16 August with Preps and Grade 1 skiers, through to Wednesday 19 August for Grades 5 & 6 snowboarders.

Fyans Park Primary entered a team for the first time last year and it plans to enter a team again this year.

The event isn’t limited to expert skiers and previous race experience isn’t necessary. If your child can confidently ski or snowboard a blue run, they can represent the school on the slopes and have a lot of fun. There’s even a parade at which they can march under the Fyans Park banner.

Please note: parents must travel with their children and be able to supervise them before and after competition.

Accommodation on the mountain can be hard to find, so if you’re keen, lock in your accommodation as soon as possible.

More information can be found here: https://www.interschools.com.au/home-victoria

Final Reminder – Teeth On Wheels Visit

Teeth On Wheels will be visiting our School for dental check-ups starting on May 19th 2026.

We understand that dental visits can feel intimidating for children, which is why Teeth On Wheels makes oral health education both fun and engaging. When children enjoy their experience with the dentist, it sets a foundation for positive oral health habits that last a lifetime. Fun, hands-on activities help children develop good habits like regular brushing, flossing, and understanding the importance of healthy teeth. This enjoyable approach not only reduces fear but empowers children to take ownership of their oral health. By creating a positive experience at an early age, we are setting the stage for healthier smiles and stronger habits throughout their life.

To ensure your child is part of this visit, please complete the consent form by clicking the link below:

Complete the consent form HERE!

The cut-off date for completing your child’s form is May 12th 2026.  For any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Teeth On Wheels team at (03) 9338 1191.

Premier’s Reading Challenge 2026

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is up and running again this year and will continue from now, finishing on Friday September 4th.  The Challenge is a fun and engaging way to get children and their families involved with reading. It invites students from Prep – Grade 2 to read 30 books and students in Grades 3-6 to read 15 books. A combination of books from the Challenge list as well as a number of self-choice books can all contribute to the completion of the Challenge.

Students keep a reading log of books they have read as part of the Challenge through the Premier’s Reading Challenge website. Individual login details to the PRC portal will be distributed to all students by the end of this week.

All students are encouraged to join in the Challenge. It’s a great initiative to support and foster positive reading habits. For more information, please visit the Premier’s Reading Challenge website, speak to your child’s class teacher or Mrs Barnewall.

2026 Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund (CSEF)

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school camps, sporting activities and excursions. If you have a valid means-tested concession card such as a Centrelink Health Care, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans Affairs Gold Card, you may be eligible.

Payment amounts are $400 per student and are made directly to school for expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child. Please note that funds are not interchangeable between students in the same family and unspent funds follow students to secondary school.

If you received CSEF in 2025 we've already applied on your behalf. If you would like to make a new application for 2026, please provide a copy of your concession card to the school office at Fyans.Park.PS@education.vic.gov.au or 5221 3772 asap. 2026 applications close on 26th June.

Asthma / Allergy / Anaphylaxis Action Plans

If your child has asthma, allergic reactions or anaphylaxis, government legislation requires that you provide us with a current Action Plan (examples below).  Please visit your medical practitioner annually for an up to date Action Plan and provide a copy to school.

https://asthma.org.au/manage-asthma/asthma-action-plan/

http://www.allergy.org.au/health-professionals/ascia-plans-action-and-treatment

Your child should have a supply of their medication in the Sick Bay to manage their symptoms.  If your medical practitioner has informed you that your child has grown out of their condition, we require written confirmation stating such.

Thank you for your cooperation.

2026 Update:

In addition to the existing EpiPen and AnaPen, there are two new treatments now available for anaphylaxis - the Jext pen and Neffy nasal spray.  A How to Use visual is included below.

Compass Tips

Would parents please not add Attendance Notes when students are arriving after 9am or departing before 3.30pm.  Staff members do not see the parent comments written on these notes so an email via Compass is a great way to convey any extra details. The kiosk at Reception is to be used to sign/in out as this marks the roll and we know exactly who is on-site in case of emergency.

Thanks so much for your cooperation.

QKR! App - Student Updates

Would families please update their student's profiles to reflect their 2026 year level and new classroom?  Otherwise things like Special Food Day orders will go to their previous classroom.

New students can also be added via Profiles --> Add Profile tab.

Thank you.
