Your P&C - Fostering cooperation and engagement between parents/carers and school.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope everyone has settled well into Term 2, with the term now back in full swing and students well into their learning routines.

Last Saturday, I had the privilege of attending the ANZAC Day Dawn Service to represent the CPS P&C Association. It was a meaningful and reflective occasion — lest we forget. I also had the opportunity to connect with several local community leaders, including the new Chatswood High School P&C President. It was a great start to building stronger connections between our school communities, and we look forward to exploring ways to support each other for the benefit of our students and families.

I’m also pleased to share that at last Tuesday’s P&C meeting, we approved financial support for the 2026 MultiLit program in CPS. This program has proven to be highly effective in strengthening students’ literacy skills, particularly for younger learners who are building essential foundations in their educational journey.

Looking ahead, the P&C will be hosting a Mother’s Day Morning BBQ at school next Friday, 8 May from 7:30am. We would greatly appreciate additional parent volunteers to assist with cooking on the BBQ or helping serve on the day. We also encourage families to contribute morning tea items, especially sweet treats, which the P&C will sell as part of our fundraising efforts.

Should you wish to volunteer please email - events@chatswoodpublicpandc.org.au

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing many of you there.

Warm regards,

Brian Chiu

Meaning

Because Beef Seaweed Soup is a healthy and nutritious food, mothers eat it after giving birth.

Koreans eat this food on their birthdays, honor their mother's gratitude, and pray for her and her children's health.

Ingredients

Diced Beef, Dried seaweed, Sesame oil, Fish Sauce, Soy Sauce, Salt, Water

Recipe

1. Soak the seaweed in water for 15 minutes and wash it 3 times with running water. Use scissors to cut into bite sized pieces for easy eating.

2. Add some sesame oil to the pot and stir fry the beef.

3. Add the seaweed to the pot and stir fry more. Add enough water and add half of a ladleful of soy and fish sauce and a little salt. Add a third of spoon minced garlic.

4. Keep the heat high until the water comes to boil. Use a ladle to remove the foam.

5. Reduce the heat and boil the soup for meat to soften and seaweed tastier.

6. Boil more on a low heat. Enjoy with rice.
