Principal Report

As we come to the end of a busy and positive term, I would like to thank all of our students, staff and families for their support throughout Term 1. It has been a strong start to the year, and I am grateful for the way our school community continues to work together to support our young people. I wish all of our students and families a happy, safe and restful Easter break.

Today was a wonderful way to finish the term, with our annual Cross Country bringing together students from Rochester Secondary College, Rochester Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School. It was terrific to see so many students get involved, have a go and support one another throughout the morning. The positive spirit, encouragement and participation on display made it a fantastic event and a great way to end the term.

Congratulations to all of our placegetters and winners on their efforts and achievements. Events like this do not happen without a lot of work behind the scenes, and I would like to sincerely thank Kristian McNicol and our staff for their organisation and support in making the morning such a success.

We were also proud to hold our One Mob Under the Sun day today, which is a very important event for our school community. This day provides a valuable opportunity for us to come together to learn, connect and celebrate First Nations culture as a community.

I would like to sincerely thank Rani Gundri and Suzie Barlow from Campaspe Shire, Christine Carty, and our First Nations students for the work that has gone into planning and organising the day. Thank you also to all visitors and presenters who gave their time to support activities across the day. Your involvement and willingness to share your knowledge and culture with our students is greatly appreciated.

A highlight of the day was the didgeridoo performance, which was enjoyed by all and added something special to the celebration.

We were also very grateful to welcome Aunty Neva, a friend of our school who has worked with our students over a number of years. We thank Aunty Neva for her ongoing support of our school and for the important role she continues to play in helping our students learn and connect.

Thank you again to everyone for a great term. I hope all families enjoy a well-earned break, and we look forward to seeing students return refreshed and ready for Term 2 when school resumes on Monday 20th April
