ICT News

In ICT this Term students from Stage 1 - Stage 3 have been focused on Online Safety and Wellbeing. All of our lessons have been based on sequences created by the Australian eSafety Commissioner based on research and trends.
The eSafety Commissioner “is Australia's independent regulator for online safety. They educate Australians about online safety risks and help to remove harmful content such as cyberbullying of children, adult cyber abuse and intimate images or videos shared without consent.”
Most of us would agree that children know far more about technology than we do as adults. Technology lessons of the past were never about protecting ourselves … but about how to look after the devices we were using and using them as efficiently as possible, to become proficient users.
Technology can do so much more for us now, than we ever anticipated and so simply, which is why both learning environments - school and home - need to teach digital safety. Here are a few links to keeping children safe online.… Hopefully you can learn a few tricks for yourself too!
The eSafety Guide - Find out how to protect your personal information and report harmful content on common social media, games, apps and sites. Entries are for information only and are not reviews or endorsements by eSafety.

I highly recommend checking out the Family tech agreements. They focus on talking with your child about tech rules that will help develop their digital intelligence and build good habits around technology. Within this page there is also a link to a Gift Guide, that breaks down what parents and carers should be looking out for when suitable tech gifts for their child.
Family tech agreements | eSafety Commissioner - A family tech agreement is a set of rules about how devices, like smartphones, tablets, computers, TVs and gaming consoles are used in your home. Start the chat with your family and develop an agreement that will suit the age and needs of your children.
