News from the Music Room

This term has already been a big one for music at Ben Venue! We now have not one, not two, but three school choirs up and running! It has been very exciting to welcome Stage 1 students to their very own choir led by Sarah Farmer. This group will perform in the non-competitive section of the Armidale Eisteddfod in May. Parents and Carers are welcome to attend - details to follow.

Stage 2 and 3 students in our Junior and Senior choirs, led by myself, have begun to learn some challenging new repertoire for their Eisteddfod performances. These two choirs will also perform in the Evening with ACOS (Armidale Community of Schools) combined public schools concert in August at the Armidale Secondary College Multi-Purpose Centre.

Ben Venue were once again successful in auditioning for the Festival of Choral Music at the Sydney Opera House, also held in August this year. Congratulations to all students who will be representing our school in this prestigious event in 2025! We have a strong group this year who have started rehearsing every Monday.

In Music classes we are enjoying content from a new program called Amplify alongside our regular music program. Students are engaging with contemporary Australian music artists and some of their most recent favourite songs. So far we have been learning more about beat, dynamics and various sound sources as well as a host of Harmony Day songs and dances which have all been a lot of fun.

Keep on singing and smiling!
