First up, we’re excited to introduce Ellery & Belinda!

ELLERY READ (LIBRARY ASSISTANT)

General Background? 

I grew up in a Christian home, and attended Belgrave Heights from prep to year 12 (1996-2009). I was very lucky to be given such a great start to life. I have three children of my own two of which also attend BHCS, Addison in year 4, and Airlie in year 1, my youngest Bridie will hopefully start three year old kinder in 2026. 

 

When you were younger what did you want to be?

When I was younger I wanted to be a ballerina (I never danced so that was never going to happen) and a mum.

 

What was your first job or your most unusual job?

My most unusual job was working as a visual merchandiser for a company called ‘animation and display’. It wasn’t typical VM work but more set design and prop creation. I worked on many big jobs such as Barbies 50th birthday, the L’Oréal fashion runway construction and was flown to Sydney to work on the David Jones Christmas caves.

 

What is your role and when did you commence at BHCS? 

I work in the DC as a library assistant two days a week and I also work in the secondary school as a learning assistant. I started at BHCS last year in term 4.

 

Best part about your job? 

Sharing knowledge but also learning from the students.

 

Hobbies?

I love to sing, exercise and come up with new things I can do with my kids.

 

When you think about Jesus, what comes to mind?

Peace, forgiveness and gratitude.

 

What is your favourite Movie?

I can’t pick just one, I love movies.

 

Favourite Meal? 

Probably laksa from Laksa King.

 

Favourite holiday destination or place to visit?

I use to love going to the Flinders caravan park as a child but it has closed. I also loved Noumea which I visited with the year 10 French group back when I was at school. 

 

What are you passionate about? 

I’m really passionate about making sure everyone is given equal opportunity to achieve their goals. 

 

Life verse or motto:

Kindness costs nothing. 

Do unto others as you would have them do to you. 

 

BELINDA WELLER (LIBRARY ASSISTANT)

 

General Background? 

I have lived in Victoria all of my life but for the first 10 years my family moved a lot. I attended 4 primary schools and 2 high schools. When I was 18 I moved to Melbourne with friends and attended Tafe, beginning in fashion design and finishing in silversmithing.

I have a husband (Simon) who I have been married to for 25 years and we have 3 adult children Angus 22, Owen 20 & Zara 18, who all attended BHCS.

 

When you were younger what did you want to be?

I wanted to be a fashion designer from a very young age.

 

What was your first job or your most unusual job?

Completed 3 years of a jewellery apprenticeship. 

 

What is your role and when did you commence at BHCS? 

I started at BHCS in April 2021 as a Year 9 Learning Assistant. Since November 2022 I have been a Library assistant in the DC. I am currently studying to be a Library Technician. 

 

Best part about your job? 

Getting to know the students and staff from all the different parts of the school.

 

Hobbies?

Sewing, crocheting, drawing, crafting, learning about history and Biblical archaeology.

 

When you think about Jesus, what comes to mind?

Love, kindness and acceptance.

 

What is your favorite Movie?

The original 3 Star Wars movies hold great memories for me. My younger brother and I watched them on VHS once a month back to back for nearly a year. I also love the first Jurassic Park movie. It came out when I was in Year 12 and I saw it 3 times that year. 

 

Favourite Meal? 

The hamburgers my husband makes. His cooking is my favourite food.

 

Favourite holiday destination or place to visit?

Paris, I have been there once and would love to go back.

 

What are you passionate about? 

Teen advocacy and mental health.

 

Life verse or motto:

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10) 

No matter what was happening around me, God is always by my side; he is my refuge and strength.
