SWIMMING CARNIVALS

SPLASHING INTO FUN

By Lexi B & Evie M (Year 6 Students)

On your marks, get set, splash! The kids are off like little fish swimming their legs off. Screaming, shouting and cheering comes from the kids waiting their turn in the marshalling area. The music pumped loudly out of the speakers and our carnival was away.

It was an awesome day up at Belgrave Pool for our Year 3 - 6  Swimming Carnival for 2025. All kids took their turns racing in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and for some there was also butterfly and 100m freestyle. But racing wasn’t the only part of the day. We also had fun novelty events and even a free swim. Our novelty events for this year were riding on inflatables; crocodiles, cameras, and sharks to the middle of the pool and back. This was also heaps of fun for those that don’t like races as much.

Our races also counted as our time trials to represent our CSEN Swim team and it went really well. Mr Broecker has announced the team that will be going to MSAC on the 21st of March. I know a few of us are keen to do some practicing for the big day.

Altogether it was a great sunny warm day for the swim carnival and there was such a great vibe up at the pool.

We also want to thank all the parents who came and supported their kids. Every student who raced, scored points for their house. This year our winning house was Wattle and it was very close for 2nd and 3rd.

Wattle - 2016pts

Sherbrooke - 1530pts (last years winners)

Yarra - 1524pts

Marunari - 1210pts

We would also like to celebrate our Age-Group Champions who will receive a certificate at our next primary assembly.

2025 SECONDARY SWIMMING CARNIVAL

By Steve Kelly (Secondary Sports Co-ordinator)

This year, our annual BHCS Secondary House Swimming Carnival was held at a new venue - Noble Park Aquatic Centre. The venue raised the bar for our swimming competition, providing a beautiful 50m pool with starter blocks, a grandstand and plenty of atmosphere. We are always so proud and impressed with our students who take on the challenge of swimming at these events and saw lots of impressive performances throughout the day and many moments of grit and determination. Although many races were close finishes, the final team result was not so much of a close finish with Marunari dominating - through overall participation and some outstanding performances.

Thank you to the staff team for taking on all the various roles needed to make a swimming day happen and to the parents who came to support students. A big thank you, also, to our wonderful House Captains for organising your teams and encouraging students to participate and get involved.

Many students who achieved good results on the day will now go on to represent BHCS at the CSEN Swimming Championships at MSAC on the 20th of March.
