SCHOOL SAVING BONUS
As you may be aware, in the Victorian State Budget in May 2024, the Victorian Government announced that it would provide a $400 School Saving Bonus (SSB) to assist Victorian families struggling with the increased cost of living. This payment will be provided to all students from government schools and those students in non-government schools who are eligible in 2025 for Camps, Sports and Excursions Funding (CSEF).
The funding for SSB is very different in government schools compared to non-government schools like BHCS. Although there is information about the SSB being available now, the eligibility for the SSB is only confirmed in mid-2025 based on CSEF eligibility for 2025. We are therefore unable to pass on the SSB until eligibility in 2025 is confirmed. Submitting CSEF applications early is the best way to speed up access to the SSB.
The SSB cannot be used for tuition fees and cannot be passed onto parents directly. Therefore, BHCS will be allocating the SSB in mid-2025 as a credit against the Resources and Activities Levy, resulting in a reduction in the direct debit payments required in the second half of 2025. If you are eligible, you will be notified once your eligibility is confirmed and advised once the credit is applied to your account.
If you have any queries in relation to this, please do not hesitate to contact us at schoolfees@bhcs.vic.edu.au schoolfees@bhcs.vic.edu.au
