Sisters in Sport
Last Friday, Ms Sambell, Mr Williams, Mrs Lewis, and Mrs Athas accompanied a group of Year 10-12 Sports Leaders to the Sisters in Sport conference at Ascham School. This was Ascham’s second year hosting the event, with this year’s theme focusing on "Making Your Mark" in sport and leadership.
The conference featured three inspiring guest speakers. First, Abbie from Her Way Sports Media shared her incredible journey as a teen journalist and presenter—starting her own sports magazine at just 11 years old! Her story proved that age is no barrier to success.
Next, Katina Janev guided the group through creating a 2025 vision board, helping the girls set clear goals for the future. Finally, Australian Opal Nat Burton delivered an empowering session on developing a game plan for leadership success, offering valuable strategies for stepping up in sport and beyond.
Each speaker left a lasting impression, and we walked away feeling truly inspired. We’re excited to put these lessons into action throughout the year!

Minty Welsh debuts for Killer Whales AWL Team
On Saturday, 23rd February, our very own Sports Prefect, Minty Welsh, made her debut for the UNSW Wests Killer Whales in the AWL. The AWL (Australian Water League) is the highest division in Australian water polo, where Minty competes alongside and against Olympic-level players. Impressively, she is the youngest member of the team.
We are all incredibly proud of you, Minty, and can’t wait to see you achieve your goals this year!

Rebels Southern Representative Touch
Congratulations to 12 Years Lexi Coburn, 14 years Lilyana Bickerstaff, 16 years Margot Hindmarsh and 18 years Polly Roche who were all selected in the Southern Rebels Regional Touch Squads after their outstanding performance playing for Easts at Junior State Cup.
It is always great to see that the Touch program, that now starts in Year 3, results in our girls achieving representative honours. It is a credit to the hard work of the girls and the coaching team that Kambala was the only school to have a representative selected in each age group!

Battle of the East
On Friday we were lucky enough to welcome the Ascham swim team to Playfair Pool for a friendly race evening in preparation for the IGSA Swim Carnival. This event allowed the girls to get some race experience within the team, practicing official race starts and relay changeovers allowing both swim teams to dust up on some race skills. With the added extra of some friendly competition, this was an opportunity for the swim captains, Daisy and Minty, to get to know the girls and foster a positive team environment that is essential for race day.
Swimming may be an individual sport; however teamwork and collaboration is not something that our swim team lacks. It was great to see the girls so supportive of one another, not just within our own team but also extending that support to the Ascham girls throughout the night. We might be a small team, but we are mighty! I can’t wait to see what the IGSA carnival holds for us this year, it’s always a fun day, great competition and lots of PBs! GO KAMBALA!

Netball Clinic Fun
The Year 4-6 girls have been enjoying the Saturday morning netball clinics at Moore Park this term. Last Saturday I attended the clinics for the first time this term and can already see a huge improvement in many of the girls.
We have a lot of new girls this term which is always great to see. I can’t wait to see the improvement in the next couple of weeks.
A reminder that on Saturday 22 March and Saturday 29 March all Year 4-6 students will attend the clinics from 8am - 9.30am to compete in round robin matches.
