Nurturing Humanity in Global Mindedness
We cherish the opportunity to listen to multiple perspectives and advocate with purpose. We use our voice to communicate with impact.
- Kambala Philosophy for Dispositional Learning
“Oh, wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, that has such people in ‘t!”
- The Tempest, William Shakespeare
When Shakespeare’s Miranda, a character who has spent her life on a remote island, exclaims “wonder” at the “beauteous” world beyond her own, she expresses the boundless possibilities that arise when we engage with the global. Kambala is committed to fostering such opportunities, with our philosophy recognising humanity at the heart of global mindedness. With a focus on building the foundations for our implementation of the Global Citizen Diploma this year, the Kambala educational journey continues to deliver rich learning experiences that reflect our students' ambitions to lead purposeful lives of impact.
This week marks our first participation in the international GCD Consortium, with Jon Disher, IB Mathematics teacher, representing Kambala at the GCD-Up conference in Nanjing. Featuring a full itinerary that highlights students sharing stories from around the world as part of their certification and fostering meaningful collaborations with leading international schools, our engagement in this conference is key to our successful implementation of the program in 2026.
To further support this initiative, our professional learning session with Academic in- Residence Dr. Ron Ritchhart on Wednesday, March 5, focused on research-informed frameworks for global competence. Drawing from the work of Verónica Boix-Mansilla, whose From Love to Action project articulates the dispositions an educational system must cultivate to empower globally-minded students, we explored thinking routines designed to stimulate critical thought, encourage perspective-taking, and inspire action.
We look forward to observing the “wonder” that our students experience with an education that opens up a “new world” of possibilities.
