Child Safety

Child safety and wellbeing at BSC - information for families and the school community
Brunswick Secondary College is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.
Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our BSC website: Policies and Document Library - Brunswick Secondary College
We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We regularly review our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.
Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.
If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact Claudia Johnson at Claudia.Johnson@education.vic.gov.au or cjoh@brunswick.vic.edu.au.
This reminder is one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:
- our commitment to child safety, and
- how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.
If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact Claudia Johnson. Any child safety complaints or concerns are treated seriously. For more information about our school’s complaints process, see our Complaints Policy.
Supervision of Grounds
Student safety at Brunswick Secondary College is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
School grounds are supervised from 8:35 am until 3:50 pm. Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending a pre-arranged supervised activity such as rehearsals.
Families are encouraged to contact Claudia Johnson on 9387 6133 or Claudia.Johnson@education.vic.gov.au for more information if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.
For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy on the school website policy page. This policy includes student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
