Term 1

This Term in Art: Inspiration from Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits!

This term, our artistic adventure is inspired by the school production Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. We've been diving into a simplified version of the classic tale of Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves, exploring the themes of adventure, treasure, and imagination. Along the way,

  • Grade 1 and 2 students have had a blast imagining treasure caves and the fascinating creatures that might dwell inside!

  • In Foundation, students experimented with painting paper to create beautiful color mixes, just like tie-dye.

  • Grade 1 got creative with special dyed paper, designing symmetrical paintings that will soon become stunning giant moths through cutting and collaging.

  • In Grade 5 and 6 our fine motor skills were put to the test as we cut paper strips and wove them into intricate Persian rugs.

  • Grades 3 and 4 have been working hard on their contour drawings of perfume bottles, learning new techniques to capture shape and detail.

We can’t wait for you to see all of these incredible artworks! Next time you’re in Mullum, be sure to check out the displays — you’ll be amazed by the talent of our young artists!
